New Schedule SPECS

S Periods 1-6 alternates on 1.5 hour blocks. Periods 7-8 meet everyday for 45 minutes.

P It's a bad idea: people not having athletics for 7 or 8 period will not benefit; class will go too fast for 7 and 8 periods; more tardies; teachers will have to adjust lesson plans big time.

E The idea came up during a meeting.

C Therefore, teachers will have to change lessonplans, students adjust to a new schedule and increased possible tardies. In 7 and * periods, you won't have much to time to do anything.

S I suggest we just stick with the current schedule for once!!!!!!!! aaaagh! Coaches who want to have athletics 7 or 8 period on this new schedule so they can have more time with their athletes should just extend practice time or switch all athletics to 7 or 8 period on normal block schedule. We should convince the principal or whoever is in charge of this that this schedule is 100% unnessessary and pointless.

Outlining my editorial cartoon

A. What is the situation that your cartoon refers to?

My cartoon is refering to the slowing u.s. economy, represented by a turtle going uphill struggling with obstacles.

B. What is your position (stance) on that situation?

U.S. economy is going to have to step it up to prosper.

C. Write some evidence that supports your position.

U.S. economy is having a hard time going "uphill to economic success" due to certain obstacles, like a turtle going uphill with many rocks and a humoungous fire in it's way.

D. What, in an ideal world would be your solution to the situation?

In an ideal world, we would not have those certain obstacles (we wouldn't do outsourcing, we would increase wages, etc.)

Planning My Cartoon

The topic of my cartoon is the slowing u.s. economy and the struggle to get to the top.

My opinion is that the economy is very slow with many obstacles in the way and is making no progress.

I will use an animal as a symbol, objects as a symbol, and text coming out of the animal's mouth.

Caricatures

This is a caricature of Pete Townshed from Kris's blog. His nose is extremely exagerated, and it takes up his whole entire face. His body is really small and his face, especially his nose, is humungous.

This is a caricature of the beatles. The part which is exagerated is their legs Their legs are made to look really long and skinny, like sticks. We get the effect that most of them were tall and really, really skinny.

Political Cartoon Symbols

The symbols are the american flag, the republican elephant and the democratic donkey. It's saying that there are 2 americas: one a democratic and one a republican.

The symbol in this cartoon is uncle sam, who represents the u.s. government. The u.s. government is loaning a lot of money to japan, who seems to not really need that much.

The symbol in this cartoon is the statue of liberty which stands for liberty. She is crying which means liberty is failing in america.

The symbol in this cartoon is the republican elephant saying that the republicans are planning to stay in iraq longer than expected, when instead they wanted to do it with tax cuts.
